You Must Bring Identification

Person(s) signing document(s) must bring a form of valid identification listed below.

The Notary must be able to determine with reasonable certainty that the person(s) match the presented identification. If this condition cannot be met, the Notary will not be able to notarize the document(s).

Acceptable Forms of Identification:

Florida Driver License or ID Card

United States Passport

Foreign Passport

(Issued by a foreign government, must be stamped by the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.)

Other Driver License or ID Card

(Issued by a public agency authorized to issue driver licenses in a State other than Florida, a territory of the United States, or Canada or Mexico.)

US Armed Forces ID Card (any branch)

Veteran Health Identification Card

(Issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.)

Inmate Identification Card

(Issued on or after January 1, 1991, by the Florida Department of Corrections, for an inmate who is in the custody of the department.)

Inmate Identification Card

(Issued by the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, for an inmate who is in the custody of the department.)

Sworn, Written Statement

(From a sworn law enforcement officer, that the forms of identification for an inmate, in an institution of confinement, were confiscated upon confinement, and that the person named in the document, is the person whose signature is to be notarized.)

Identification Card

(Issued by the United States Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.)

NOTE: If a signer does not have any of the aforementioned forms of identification: 2 witnesses with acceptable identification, who personally know the signer and who have no interest in the documents to be signed, may vouch for the signer’s identity by signing, and swearing under oath that the signer is the person he or she claims to be.
